The US border is only 7 miles south.

Looking to the south of Creston the valley starts to open up as the Canada-US border appears in the distance. Highway 21 leads into northern Idaho and the closest town of Bonners Ferry, aptly named from the early gold rush days when it was a major crossing point of the Kootenay River.
Following hwy 21 further south will take you to the resort city of Sandpoint Idaho. Sandpoint has excellent downtown beaches on lake Pend O Reille and year round fun available at the well respected Schweitzer Ski area. Sandpoint also features the 'Arts' and several festivals a year attest to the enthusiasm generated by this lively community.
